If I did a Top 10 list of my perfect snack foods, Dolmas would definitely make the cut. Why? Dolmas are tasty and convenient. You can pack 2 in a little snack baggy which can fit in a purse, gym bag, or laptop bag. I bring dolmas on the plane with me when I travel to snack on because the dolmas are much healthier for you than a bag of chips.
The best-known version of the dolma is the grape-leaf dolma filled simply with rice, as seen in the picture above. Other varieties of dolmas can include vegetables like zucchini, eggplant, split peas, tomato, or meats like lamb and beef. Meat dolmas are commonly eaten warm, and the veggie ones cold.
There are many countries who have a version of the veggie or meat dolma, and you can read more about those varieties here.
